Obedience
From the new Community Companion Dog class right to the top, we offer good quality instruction very clearly bent towards a high level of detail. Obedience competition is not just for humans to win ribbons, it’s the “dressage of the dog world” and to watch a happy team float along with pin point accuracy is an absolute joy. If this appeals to you, come along and join our trialling group.
Whilst tracking doesn’t form part of the weekly instruction, there are groups of members who are passionate about the sport and meet weekly during the tracking season to practice and learn. We also run a “Learn to Track” weekend once per year around April or May. Book early if you wish to participate – this seminar is unrivalled in its content and you’re unlikely to find a better start to the sport anywhere else in the state.
This is a sport for the doggies. It appeals to the very core of what it means to be a dog. Running, jumping, catching a ball and super excitement too!
Fly ball can best be described as a relay race over four jumps whilst retrieving a ball in around 21 seconds for a four dog team!
It is a sport in which any dog can participate, though some obedience is required for control in learning.
To compete in competition, dogs and handlers must be members of the Australian Flyball Association. For competition forms or a more complete description of this fun sport go to the Australian Flyball Association website.
Flyball is a sport for dogs with human cheerleaders.
Agility
Another exciting sport where the dogs are required to complete a formal course of jumps, tunnels, weaving poles, and other obstacles within a short time frame. For dogs, this can be a great relationship builder with their handler. It’s fun, exciting and no dog is too small or too big – even little fluffies can do this stuff!
